This morning I wheatpasted screenprinted wallpaper and hung stuffed pieces in Fleisher's Gallery for the exhibition Softer Edges: Fiber Artists in the Urban Environment. The exhibition opens March 30 and will run through April. The reception is Friday April 13 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Featured artists include Natalya Aikens, Brenna Murphy, Jennifer Hunold and more.
Frank's stuffed piano and fan are almost complete. They will be featured in the group exhibition, Softer Edges, curated by Marie Eclin at Fleisher for Fiber Philadelphia in April.
These are some pieces that have finally completed the process of being drawn, screenprinted, sewn, stuffed, resewn, and edged for the exhibition at the Airport and Paradigm Gallery.
The photo above are of the Blue Teapot, my childhood Salad Spinner, Leroy's Cathedral Radio and Kim's Armchair.
I printed the keys for fabric pianos today to be sewn and stuffed. This is Frank's piano, which he used to have lessons on when he was a child. His father was a duop singer for a band called the Vespars and encouraged Frank's musical pursuits.
Just a reminder to come to my talk at the Print Center tomorrow, Saturday November 12 at 2:00 PM. First twenty people to arrive get a take-away trapunto demonstration piece.
Made a print in the new studio of Kim's broom on paper and fabric. It references the story Kim told me of when her grandfather found a pigeon in their bathroom and chased it around the house with a broom screaming "bad omen!" knocking everything down but the pigeon...
This was is a three color print I made with my new intern Amanda. Look for it around town soon!
I recently bought a polarizing lens and how have an image of stuffed without my own reflection. Amazing! If you haven't seen this piece, please check it out at City Hall before it comes down on February 6th.
