Starter Home, which opened at Paradigm Gallery on Friday, June 22, was featured in the Daily News last week. Come join me at the gallery Wednesday - Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 for Open Community Sewing hours!

Starter Home exhibition at Paradigm is featured in this week's Philadelphia Weekly. Opening reception is June 22, 6 - 10 PM at 803 South 4th Street.


Starter Home, (June 22-July 27) Paradigm Gallery is inviting the public to come out and assist printmaker and installation artist Kay Healy in constructing 350 square feet of fabric “rooms.” These “rooms” will include more than 100 hand-drawn, screenprinted and sewn furniture pieces that have been created based on four Philadelphian’s memories of their childhood homes. The exhibit opens with a reception and sewing party (6-10pm) and open community sewing hours will be held each week, Wed.-Fri. from 4-8 p.m.

Fibers Thesis Exhibition

This is a selection of very impressive work by my interns from the Fibers department of the University of the Arts. I like to think that it was my influence that led them to create such incredible work!

Amanda Santini worked with me in Summer 2011 and she hand embroidered found garments. Her site is amandasantini.com where you can view more of her embroidered underwear series and her lovely hair pillows, one of which I purchased for my studio.

Paige Fetchen worked with me Summer 2011 and had a number of sculptural fiber works. Someday when I have a large home gallery I plan on buying her Loveseat pictured below. Her site is paigefetchen.com.

Kitchen Wall Paper

I now have four quilted backgrounds, each 9 feet tall and between 8 and 11 feet wide thanks to the CE Faculty Enrichment Grant. The grant allowed me to work with Twin Oaks Long Arm Quilting to make the pieces.
